We do not allow refunds, year-to-year deferrals, or transfers from athlete-to-athlete.

We do allow registered athletes to transfer themselves (without admin fee) to any other ÖDYSSEY event, within the same calendar year. The athlete must do this at least 1-month prior to the event they are transferring out of, as well as the event they are transferring into. If the event there are transferring into has a higher registration fee, the difference will be charged to finalize the transfer. If the event being transferred into is less, the difference will not be refunded.

  • 2-weeks prior to each race we record a mandatory pre race athlete briefing and post it to our YouTube Channel. Every athlete is expected to watch/listen to it in its entirety. This takes the place of any in-person briefing. You are still more than welcome to email us questions and ask them in person at packet pickup if you wish but you are required to watch the video prior.

  • Every person that is taking the ferry to and from the island in the days before and after the race is responsible for their own ticket(s). On race morning, each athlete that is taking the ferry from mainland Mackinaw City to the race start on Mackinaw Island is also responsible for purchasing their own ticket.

SUN RACE MORNING 6AM BOAT FROM MACKINAW CITY - Use code OSRBOAT2022 for a discount AND to reserve your spot specifically on our 6:00 AM race morning boat to the start line on Mackinac Island.

ALL OTHER DAYS/TIMES/LOCATIONS - Use code OSR2022 for a discount on any tickets to be used outside of the race morning boat.

CLICK HERE to buy your ticket(s).

  • Prior to the start of the race (likely on this webpage and in an email the day(s) before) we will identify a place for athletes to drop and retrieve a “Change of Clothes Bag.” This bag should not contain anything of real value as we do not officially check them in and out or watch/guard them during the race.

  • Listed above in the Schedule of Events section. Please know that we want everyone to finish but these cutoffs are in place to help with the safety of the athletes as well as the future of the event. Please also note that we reserve the right to cutoff any athletes along the course that we deem unfit to continue for any reason.

  • Before the race there are restrooms at the Shepler’s boarding area in Mackinaw City. There are no restrooms on the ferry. There are also restrooms at the start on the dock. Athletes can find restrooms along the course in various areas (marked on the course map) as well as at the finish.

  • There are a number of hydration/nutrition stops on the course as dictated on the map at the top of the page. Those stops will have water, an electrolyte drink and gels. Some of them will also have bananas and other solid food snacks.

  • All of our courses are open. This means that although we have boats monitoring traffic in the water, everyone should be alert and aware of their surroundings at all times. On land all trails are open to the public and any road crossings may have horse carriages or bicycle traffic. Always look both ways before crossing and do everything you can to not spook the horses (slow down, get out of their way, no erratic movement).

On the course we have safety boats and kayaks as well as land medics traversing pivotal areas most likely to require their attention. We cannot cover every mile of the course at all times, that’s why having a teammate is beneficial. Also remember to carry all mandatory gear during the race, some of it includes safety essentials.

  • We do not have an official scheduled awards ceremony. We give our awards out as the winners cross the finish line. SwimRun is unique in the way that we know right away who the winners are and can make sure everyone gets their award and we do a quick interview before they head off.

  • We have no deals or recommendations on lodging for this race. All surrounding hotels, motels, and Airbnbs are busy during this time and have no shortage of people looking to rent.
