Common 🍆 Concerns

Look I get it … you want to avoid hitting your 🍆 on the pole. It’s a common concern but not one I have found to be a problem. The fear of banging your 🍆 probably causes more accidents than resulting in one. You need to overcome that fear so you can properly fly. Wearing a dance belt and overcoming your fear will get you through this.

Buy good dance belts early on! Your cheap tightie-whities are seriously NOT going to get the job done. Support and protection are mandatory. You can get by for a long time wearing casual gym clothing but you will not get far without a dance belt.

Dance Belts. Apparel like dance belts and sweat wicking dancewear are really important for both peak performance and comfort. Depending on where you live that may be difficult to come by. My unpaid endorsement goes to Sarah McClymont and Wink Fitnesswear which has a whole line specifically for men. They were able to help get me sized and fit properly on an international order even when shipping and returns were difficult. Check them out!

Your Practice

Explore and discover for yourself. Everyone should take classes with plenty of different teachers to find styles of dance and teaching that is right for them. Finding a teacher and style you connect with may be helpful for you. Explore classes and studios until you find something that connects with you.

Learn to feel comfortable speaking up. During class if you find an exercise, movement, or position very uncomfortable you should feel okay asking for modifications. Give some time to feel and read your body on the pole and what it is doing or experiencing. You will have to communicate this to teachers who could be unfamiliar with your body type

No unhealthy comparison! Do not compare yourself to others in an unhealthy and self critical manner. Do not look down on others because they are struggling or making mistakes. Especially do not compare yourself to people with a totally different fitness background than you.

Enjoy your successes! Make them reasonable and frequent! Learn to love your personal progress. Look for every accomplishment no matter how small so you can keep track and share them! Use the positive feedback loop as motivation to look forward to practice. You have to want to be in the studio getting your ass kicked every day so make it your pride and joy.

Consistency over intensity. Making good habits is like building a chain. Every day you add a link to the chain. You want to keep that chain going.Your goal is not to go 110% every day, pole dancing classes for guys. Your goal should be to make every day a ‘non-zero’ day. All that means is you need to make SOME progress EVERY day. Even if it means climbing but no tricks. Even if it means doing flexibility but no pole. Even if it means looking up techniques on instagram when you can’t hit the gym. Every day can be an opportunity for improvement.

Your Self-Discovery

Find styles that fit. There are a lot of different styles of pole. Pole sport / calisthenics, entertainment, circus, drama, comedy, exotic, theater, pole dancing classes for guys, artistic, exotic… You do not have to limit yourself to one. Find ways to dance that make you happy and align with your goals.

Dancing in heels is always optional. You can dance in whatever footwear your studio will allow. Socks or fresh sneakers are just fine if you do not like going barefoot. Ask your studio what is allowed. Find choreo and classes that fit your personal expression.

RECORD! EVERYTHING! Get comfortable recording yourself and looking at your own videos. The fastest way to improve is regularly watching yourself after practice. Healthy and measured self-criticism can go a long way. Buy a wide angle lens attachment for your camera phone and vulcan windsurfing and kite boarding station larnaca cyprus good flexible leg tripod. They cost $20 and will enable you to watch all your successes and failures.

Connect with or follow other dancers. We get it. Posting video of yourself dancing might be difficult at first. Even if you never post your art you can use Instagram and YouTube to find dancers with styles you enjoy. Search tools and recommendation algorithms make it possible to find and learn from anyone around the pole dancing classes for guys. You can use social media to find inspiration, connect with dancers, and create a unique expression of movement expression that fits you.

My Final Word

“Man to man talk” timedo not ever make excuses or give yourself limitations in pole dancing because of your sex. It is absolutely the worst thing for yourself. Your body is capable of amazing things so do not start this journey by putting up barriers for yourself

Be confident and tell your story because no one else will.

8 benefits of pole fitness for men : Pole dance and fitness are becoming more mainstream and socially acceptable as a form of fitness. You may have read or seen about how it can empower women, but nobody really talks about how it can benefit men. Just to clarify here a moment, I am a woman, but what I am about to write is taken from the experiences of my male students. So here are some things that you might not expect.

Benefits of pole fitness for men

1, pole dancing classes for guys. It’s an all body workout.

You may look at pole dance and fitness and wonder why any man would want to spin prettily around a pole. But it is so much more than that. From your very first lesson you are lifting your entire body weight with your arms, the entire lesson. You won’t notice the energy expended though because you’ll be having fun.

2. You’ll get stronger.

This is just a by-product of pole fitness. Sure some people train with pole dancing classes for guys to increase their strength faster, but mostly, it’ll happen on its own. If you are consistently lifting your own body weight you get stronger. Like with any type of callisthenic exercise. Except in pole, the strength gain isn’t the focus of the exercise, pole dancing classes for guys, just a resulting happy accident.

3. You will lose weight and gain muscle.

Okay, so that’s a bit of a blanket statement. You may initially gain weight as you gain muscle and then lose inches. The result is still a trimmer more defined muscular version of your former self.

4. Your flexibility usa rugby shirt uk increase.

Most of my male students started off about as bendy as a brick. They moaned about stretching after class, even though they understood it’s important for ‘resetting’ your muscles and for staving off DOMS. Suggest they sit in a straddle on the floor and bend forward, and you’d get legs poised at a 45 degree angle to each other, and the most they could bend forward was an upright sit. That’s not good guys. It’s not good for your hips, for your backs, or for future mobility.

Lack of flexibility will do weird things to your body, particularly if you spend most of your days sitting in an office. None of my male students can do the splits, it’s not something they aspire to, nor train for. However, they have now all mckenney hockey equipment increased range of motion in their fairfax basketball camp, backs, hips, and legs, pole dancing classes for guys. Which will be of benefit to their future health and well-being.

5. You will (by default) gain a better understanding of women.

Pole classes are still primarily a female dominated environment. You’d think we might get shy, since we dance in very little (we need maximum skin bared for safety reasons), pole dancing classes for guys. However, due to the nature of the classes, you end up getting very up close and personal with other class members. Soon you’ll be privy to all types of things that normally aren’t shared with men on the whole. Sometimes you may feel uncomfortable as a man while surrounded by women talking about their menstrual cycles, mood swings, idiotic things their partners parachute 3d model said etc. If you are wise, you will take it all on board. Who knows it might even make you more successful in your relationships pole dancing classes for guys it may prevent a thoughtless response on your part.

6. It’ll open your eyes to other forms of fitness.

Pole dance and fitness

As much as I love Pole dance and fitness, it opened my eyes to many other skills that build strength in a similar way. These come under the umbrella of Circus arts, and include Aerial Silks, Aerial Hoop (Lyra), Gymnastic rings, Ropes, and Trapeze. And men have a natural strength (I call it the testosterone advantage) that means you’ll be able to get fairly good on these apparatus fairly quickly.

7. Pull Ups will become easy.

I am talking about full pull ups with a full straight arm hang with a wide grip, getting your whole face about the horizontal bar, not the cross fit style pull ups where your arms aren’t fully straight in the lowered position.

To be fair, I had never tried to do a pull up, or a chin up until a couple of years ago. I had already been pole dancing for 6 years at that point, and I didn’t get why people found them hard. I had seen an article on SAS training and how they had to do 20 pull ups, and how they were reducing it to 10 for women or some such rubbish. It became a social media ‘thing’ where pole dancers around the world would post videos of themselves banging out 20 pull ups like they were nothing.

That could be you, because let’s face it, when you can suspend your body horizontally in a plank, just from your arm grip on a vertical pole, then pull ups will seem easy. I still have to swing my legs to get into a full muscle up, pole dancing classes for guys the guys in my class don’t. Darn that testosterone advantage.

8. You will gain a supportive community.

Pole dancing supportive community

One of my guys Chris posted on his Facebook page a progress photo. After 12 months of doing pole, he had lost three stone, packed on muscles in places he said he didn’t know muscles existed, and was starting to change his life in other ways. Now I am sure this doesn’t apply to any of you reading this, as I know you are all open minded and accepting individuals.

But he was slated and made fun of on Facebook by his non-pole dancing friends. In the time frame of ten minutes, every female pole dancer he knew had defended him and challenged the people who had so rudely 2003 coachmen catalina sport the piss. We look after each other, we take no nonsense, and we defend each other in all circumstances. And as Chris commented, pole dancing classes for guys, who doesn’t want to get fit and healthy surrounded by beautiful, strong, scantily clad females? Plus, pole dancing classes for guys, a pole studio generally smells a damn site better than your local weight room at the gym.

Sarah Myers is owner and chief pole instructor at Vertical Fitness & Vertical Joy fitness and dance studio, Sarah has been pole dancing 8 years and can also be reached at her facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Vertical-Joy-309031055936240/
