We werepresented with the initial “draft lease” in April 2015, and suffice to say it didn’t takelong for several Whitehorse tennis clubs to voice their dissatisfaction with council’sdraft lease.An alliance of 8 Whitehorse Tennis Clubs was formed and together we achieved amore favorable and equitable outcome for all clubs. Many meetings were held and weenlisted support and advice from various politicians and local councilors. Whilst notentirely satisfied with various clauses of the lease, we did achieve some major positiveoutcomes with regard to security of tenure and the associated annual lease fees.Many thanks to our general committee members who represented the Club at thenumerous meetings throughout the long process. Our whole committee attended mostmeetings (George Coster, Karen Drane, Wal Reddington, Muriel Paterson & DomAlberico) and this ensured our club’s concerns were voiced quite clearly withcouncilors, council staff and their hired negotiators.Sincere thanks to Lynn Heath, President of North Box Hill Tennis Club, who convenedthe alliance of clubs and managed the flow of correspondence etc throughout theprocess. Blackburn Tennis Club

Blackburn Tennis Club is a community tennis club located in Morton Park with seven en-tout-cas courts. Membership is available to all standards and family discounts are available.

There is professional coaching available by Fireball Tennis Academy. Junior and Senior teams across all standards from Hot Shots beginners to advanced players. Blackburn & District Night Tennis Association competition tennis is available 4 nights per week.

Members can play social tennis at all times. Court availability is, however, restricted during competition. Members may also bring guests but they are required to pay a visitor's fee for each session of play.

Washout & ForfeitProcedures

Washouts: When teams agree to a washout prior

to attending the relevant Match Venue – both teams must

provide their Club Data Entry Officials with the four

names of the players who would have played on the

night. These names must be entered online prior to the

Wednesday Night “Result Entry Deadline” – using the

“By Phone” icon. For incomplete matches where both

teams have attended the scheduled Venue Club – the

“HOME” team (Venue Club) is responsible for Result

Entry.

Forfeits: When a team receives a forfeit – the

team receiving the forfeit must provide their

Club Data Entry Officials with the four names of the

players who would have played for the “Winning Team”.

These names must be entered online prior to the

Wednesday Night “Result Entry Deadline” using the “By

Phone” icon.

Team Fees :

$28.00 per team per match to be paid to the Venue

Club Organiser at the beginning of the night.

(i.e. $7.00 per player per match for Doubles

Sections)

Drawn Finals Matches:

In the case of a drawn final, “the last four players

listed on the Match Result Sheet shall play a 12

point tie-break to decide the match”. i.e. this means

players 2 & 3 for Doubles only sections.


The “HOME TEAM” (i.e. VENUE CLUB) is

responsible for entering all match results online

via our website at www.bdnta.com.

All Wednesday Night match results must be

entered online by 3.00p.m. Friday of the same

week.

Teams will lose points if Match Results not

entered by above deadline!!!

Venue Clubs to issue a “Match Result Booklet” and

four New Balls for each match scheduled at their courts.

“HOME TEAM” (VENUE CLUB) officials to retain

Carbon Copy Match Result Booklets for the

season.

“VISITING TEAMS” to keep “white” Match Result

Sheet when playing away.

Events

Using this tool, you can attract a group of players to meet at a court to play some tennis. Here's how it works:

1). Click the "+ Add" button above the calendar.
2). Select the court, date and time.
3). Select the playing levels you are looking for.
4), blackburn night tennis. Select the minimum number of players you need to play.
5). Determine who to invite. (nearby players, network members, connections, etc.)

And that's it! Players can now join your event. You can also add, or even invite players.

Once the minimum number of players have joined, everyone will get an email letting them know it's on!

You will be able to see all the players who have joined, and even post comments.



When logged in, you can view all events near you by clicking the event icon at the top right of every page:

Finals Eligibility:

Players must play at least 3 matches during the home/away season in order to qualify for finals for a particular night.

Being named in a complete washout/heatout/blackout does not qualify as a match played towards finals eligibility.

(N.B. A complete washout/heatout/blackout is a match in which not a single game in any set has been completed)

When a team receives a forfeit, only the players named for the team winning by forfeit will count towards finals eligibility.

(i.e. The team losing by forfeit cannot name players)

Answers to some FAQs

1.       All SETS in the BDNTA are first to six games, with a tie-breaker to be played at 5 games all.

2.       TROLS RESULTS ENTRY for tie-break sets: 6/5 to the WINNING team.

3.       All BDNTA TIE-BREAKERS are the traditional 12 point tie-break: first to 7 points with a margin of at least 2 points.

(eg. A winning score could be 7/3 or 7/5 etc., but if the tie-break scores reach 6 points all, blackburn night tennis, then the tie-break continues until one team is at least 2 points ahead)

4.       Players must not play for more than one club during the same season on the same playing night.

i.e. If Joe Blogs plays for Blackburn on Tuesday nights then he cannot play for another club on Tuesday nights during the same season.

Match Fees:

The cost per team shall be:

$32.00 per night (i.e. $8.00 per player per match) for all Doubles Only Sections payable to the Venue Club.

$30.00 per night (i.e, blackburn night tennis. $10.00 per player per match) for Thursday Singles/Doubles Sections payable to the Venue Club.

It's tradition!  The Blackburn Tennis Club welcomes junior members for a night of fun.  These Friday Night Junior Round Robins have been very popular throughout the years.  They present juniors with the perfect opportunity to get some match play experience with many different partners.  Organized singles tournaments will be held every Friday evening and players will win points to build up their rankings.  It is the perfect way for our juniors to learn to play and for us to promote the sport to the next generation!

This season, the Blackburn Tennis Club is opening these junior round robins to any junior members at  a cost of $10.00 per evening for non members of the club.  Medals will be awarded & Refreshments shall be served throughout the evening.  We hope to see you all in great numbers!

Draw Size - 20 players (draws will be made in all 3 categories U12, U14, U16) - (players may play up a category)

Registration Deadline - 12:00 p.m. Wednesday prior to the chosen/selected /intended Friday tourney.

Schedule - Will be posted by midnight on the Thursday before the chosen/selected /intended Friday tourney.

Draw - Will be posted by midnight on the Thursday before the chosen/selected /intended Friday tourney.  Seedings will be based on our BTC junior RR rankings.  New rankings will be posted by midnight on the Sunday following the Friday tourney.

Fees - Free for club members & $15.00 for non-members of the club.

Rules -

Matches - 4/7 games for all matches, full pro set for the finals with a tie-break at 7-7 or cap of 30 minutes, leader at that moment wins the match.  To the best of our ability, blackburn night tennis player will be guaranteed two matches.  (If there are time constraints, we will prioritize matches in the winner bracket before the consolation matches.)

Playing area - restricted to players.  Remaining players, parents to remain on patio.

Prizes - Medals will be awarded and ranking points will be awarded

Match scheduling - We encourage every player to arrive 30 minutes before their scheduled time as once a match finishes, the next goes on as we only have a few hours to get through a whole draw.

Players - All ages, sexes and level of play will be drawn into the same tournament.
